Abstract

An ultrahigh energy-harvesting efficiency of 11.8% is achieved from water drops by using a novel “charge-trapping-based electricity generator (CTEG)”. In article number 2001699, Hao Wu, Guofu Zhou, Frieder Mugele, and co-workers show that with electrowetting-induced trapped charges, a milliamp-level electric current is generated from a water drop impacting onto a CTEG device. They demonstrate successful operation of this CTEG without degradation up to more than 100 days after fabrication.
