Abstract

Inverse opal polymer replicas serve as excellent templates for the formation of metal sphere arrays (see Figure). Here nickel sphere arrays have been prepared by electrodeposition into poly(methyl methacrylate) templates. Angle‐dependent magnetic measurements indicate that these properties are dominated by shape anisotropy.

28. In this system the easy axis lies in the plate plane thus ϕ = 90°–θ and cos ϕ = sin θ.
29. Even though it is well known that magnetic shape anisotropy can predominate over crystalline anisotropy in nickel we still examined the sample for preferred orientation. X‐ray diffraction data were in excellent agreement with that reported for polycrystalline nickel [30] indicating an absence of preferred orientation in the electrodeposited nickel.
