Abstract

Cooperative magnetic interactions in molecular materials at room temperature are the goal of much interdisciplinary research. The title compound is shown to have a Tc of 18 K and to be of a new structural type which makes it a suitable model for the previously reported, disordered, infusible V(TCNE), which is a room‐temperature magnet. The synthesis and structure of the new material are discussed.

24. Our analysis of their reported data suggests that the data can be fit to the Curie‐Weiss expression X OC(T ‐ θ)−1 with θ = 48 K. This is substantially greater than the 30 K value reported for [FeCp2*][TCNE][9a] and the 22.6 K value reported for [MnCp2*][TCNE].[5]

Using an Enraf Nonius CAD4 diffractometer 5928 reflections were measured using a graphitemonochromated MoKα radiation. With: 331 variables the structure was refined using 3100 data points for which I > 3δ(I) to a convergence of R = 0.055 and RW= 0.059.
