Superior‐Performance Polymeric Composite Materials for High‐Density Optical Data Storage
Source abstract
Abstract
High-resolution holographic gratings are obtained using a combination of a multifunctional acrylate (DPHP/HA), a low-molecular-weight glass-forming liquid epoxy-aromatic resin (TPMTGE), and a UV-photoinitiator (Irgacure 819). Their optical properties (sensitivity, transparency, and optical shrinkage) are promising for high-density optical data storage applications.

35. The diffraction efficiency values measured during irradiation and consequently the calculated sensitivities are underestimated. In fact our gratings show a maximum efficiency in the region of the irradiated spot which is slightly different from the one monitored by the spectrometer during exposure. This explains why in Figures 2a and 3 the notches observed after 96 h are deeper than the ones measured at the writing stage. In particular in the case of Figure 3 we can estimateS = 1.5 × 103 cm J−1and Δn = 1.9 × 10−3.
