High, Purely Electrostrictive Strain in Lead‐Free Dielectrics
Source abstract
Abstract
A high electrostrictive strain (∼0.1%) with hysteresis-free behavior is observed in (Sr,Na,Bi)TiO3 solid solutions. Its strain versus polarization (P) completely follows the quadratic relation (see Figure), indicating a purely electrostrictive effect with an electrostrictive coefficient Q11 of 0.02 m4 C–2. These properties of this environmentally friendly lead-free material are comparable with those of the currently used lead-containing materials.

13. For (Sr1–1.5xBix□0.5x)TiO3 fromTm = 123 K atx = 0.04 toTm = 198 K atx = 0.2 we obtain a shifting rate of ∼ 4.71 K/1 mol‐% Bi ions. For Bi and Na co‐doped (Sr1–y–x–ϕNayBix)TiO3 asx = 0.395 (atz = 0.65) Tm = 318 K; but according to the rate of 4.71 K/1 mol‐% Bi ions theTmshould be 290 K. The extra increase 28 K can be reasonably attributed to the contribution of Na doping. In this case since the concentration of Na isy = 0.325 atz = 0.65 we see a shifting rate forTmof Na of ∼ 0.86 K/1 mol‐% Na ions.
