Simultaneous Self‐Healing and Corrosion Protection Using Disulfide Bonds (Adv. Funct. Mater. 29/2025)
Source abstract
Abstract
Anticorrosion Coatings In article number 2508274, Daniel Crespy and co-workers present a novel polymer-inhibitor coating system that demonstrates self-healing capability and long-term corrosion resistance on metal surfaces. Both functions are activated through the reversibility of disulfide linkages upon heating, hence facilitating damage healing while releasing the inhibitor. The smart release mechanism ensures efficient protection, making this design highly suitable for advanced material applications in harsh environments.
