Abstract

The fabrication of Au electrodes inside micropores that are ultrasmooth and do not suffer from fabrication-related contaminations is described in this paper to yield large-area junctions based on self-assembled monolayers with high stability and reproducibility. The junctions do not suffer from stray capacitances, or artefacts induced by the topography of the electrodes, giving new insights into the mechanisms of charge transport.
