Abstract

Plant-inspired pyrogallol-containing molecules are reviewed, with a focus on their intermolecular interactions with biomacromolecules and promising strategies for surface engineering tand applications such as hemostatic agents, tissue adhesives, and drug delivery systems. With these advances in material sciences, newly emerging pyrogallol compounds and their unique properties can be widely implemented in biomedical, energy, agricultural, and other industrial fields.
