Abstract

Peel it and see: 2D-layered manganese chalcogenophosphites, MnPX3 (X = S, Se), are synthetized and submitted to shear force exfoliation. The process, described by Martin Pumera and co-workers in article number 1805975, causes MPX3 to undergo downsizing, alongside with delamination. Layered exfoliated MnPSe3 has the lowest onset potential for the hydrogen evolution reaction and good stability. Such exfoliated MnPX3 shows great promise in a future hydrogen-based economy.
