Multi‐Level Bioinspired Microlattice with Broadband Sound‐Absorption Capabilities and Deformation‐Tolerant Compressive Response (Adv. Funct. Mater. 2/2023)
Source abstract
Abstract
Bioinspired Energy Absorbers In article number 2210160, Zhai and co-workers present a new microlattice, inspired by the biological bone of the cuttlefish, for acoustics and mechanical applications. Through its uniquely designed architecture, the microlattice can effectively dissipate sound wave energy within the structure, thereby displaying broadband sound absorption. Additionally, the mechanically robust bioinspired design is also damage tolerant under mechanical loads. The microlattice will find broad applications as advanced engineering materials for both terra and aerospace applications.
