3D Nano‐architected Polymer Shell Enables Reconfigurable Stabilized Blue Phase Soft Crystals (Adv. Funct. Mater. 26/2025)
Source abstract
Abstract
Blue Phase Soft Crystals In article number 2424655, Jose A. Martinez-Gonzalez, Monirosadat Sadati, and co-workers present a novel approach for stabilizing blue phase (BP) liquid crystals across broad temperature ranges while preserving their dynamic behavior and reconfigurable crystal-to-crystal transformations. By leveraging curved microdroplet boundaries, they demonstrate that a polymer shell, featuring the BPs disclination network nanoarchitecture, directs BP nucleation and lattice formation. This nanoarchitected shell enhances BPs thermal stability while enabling adaptive phase transitions.
