Recent advances of in situ and in operando optical imaging techniques for battery researches
Source abstract
Abstract
Given the essential role batteries played in modern society, developing batteries with better performance is a persistent pursuit, which has catalyzed the advancement of in situ and in operando characterization techniques. Among these techniques, optical imaging methods are underused due to their relatively low resolution, and most of the former reviews are mainly focused on other in situ and in operando methods. But with many advantages including non-destruction and non-contact nature, fast sample rate and high compatibility to battery designs, optical imaging methods hold more potential on battery researches than what has been shown so far. In this opinion, recent researches on battery components and entire batteries using optical imaging methods are reviewed. By summarizing these works, future perspectives of optical imaging methods on battery researches is discussed in the final section.
