Single-molecule electrochemistry: From redox cycling to single redox events
Source abstract
Abstract
Summary The field of single-molecule electrochemistry has seen many exciting advances since Bard and Fan demonstrated the use of redox cycling. Recent development of nanoelectrodes and microfabricated nanogap devices has enabled reproducible measurements of single redox molecules. Fluorescence and Raman spectroscopy are increasingly used to probe individual heterogeneous electron-transfer events. The use of bipolar coupling may allow optical recording of single redox events for conventional redox species.
