A Novel 2-D Honeycomb-like Lithium Coordination Polymer Containing 42-Membered Rings
Source abstract
Abstract
The self-assembly of LiBr and bis(diphenylphosphineoxo)ethane (dppe-O) in tetrahydrofuran (THF) and further diffusion with n -pentane gave rise to a new coordination polymer formulated as [Li 2 (dppe-O) 3 Br 2 ] n and has been shown by X-ray diffraction analysis to be a 2-D noninterpenetrating honeycomb-like layer of (6,3) topology containing 42-membered rings with 1-D hydrophobic channels. These 2-D layers stack together tightly through weak hydrogen bonding and strong π···π stacking interactions to form a 3-D nanoporous structure.

13. Synthesis of1: The reaction was carried out under an atmosphere of dry and oxygen-free nitrogen using standard Schlenk and glovebox techniques. THF solvent was degassed, distilled, and stored under nitrogen. LiBr (35 mg, 0.4 mmol) and dppe-O (178 mg, 0.4 mmol) were added to 10 mL of THF, and this reactant mixture was stirred at 60 °C for 6 h. The precipitate was filtered off, and the mother liquid was reduced to 5 mL in a small tube, which was loaded into a large vial containing 5 mL ofn-pentane. The large vial was sealed and left undisturbed at room temperature, and light yellow crystals of the title complex were obtained in 6 days. Yield: 60%.
