The application of flash desorption spectroscopy to chemical reactions on surfaces: Temperature programmed reaction spectroscopy
Source abstract
Abstract
Abstract Abstract For many gas-solid systems, chemisorption occurs in several states, each with a discrete binding energy. Flash desorption has been used to determine the values of these binding energies by heating a surface after exposure to a gas and observing the temperature at which the gas is desorbed. More recently, it has also been used to study the products and kinetics of decomposition of adsorbed gases. In this review, the technique of flash desorption and its application to the study of reactions of adsorbed gases will be considered. This technique will be referred t o as temperature programmed reaction spectroscopy (TPRS).
