Liquid Metal–Enabled Island Architecture for Mechanically Robust Conductive Yarns
Source abstract
Abstract
Producing high‐conductive liquid metal (LM) yarns is highly desirable for next‐generation flexible electronics, yet it remains a daunting challenge due to the large surface tension and high density of LM droplets. Here, a 'bridging‐island' strategy was proposed, where carbon black serves as conductive bridges linking dispersed LM particles. Electrical conductivity was markedly improved (8.5 × 10 3 S m −1 ). The conductive cotton yarns exhibited low‐voltage electrothermal heating capability (40°C at 0.6 V), along with stable electrical performance. The conductive yarns were integrated into textiles to fabricate all‐fabric smart textiles, demonstrating potential for thermal management and serving as intelligent platforms for real‐time electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring and analysis.
