Abstract

Implantable Devices In article number 2402632, Se Jin Oh, Amy Kyungwon Han, and co-workers present a superior vena cava (SVC) compressive shape-memory-alloy (SMA) implantable device, “SCS,” that is wrapped around the SVC and installed to regulate venous return in acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF). The SCS device operates through biocompatible SMA actuators and offers a potential long-term solution that minimizes thrombosis risk by avoiding direct blood contact, representing a significant advancement over current ADHF treatments.
