Abstract

The front cover shows a typical microstructure formation of niobium-alumina composite beads produced using an alginate-based gelation procedure. During sintering at 1600 °C, the grains of niobium and alumina developed faceted surfaces due to enhanced surface diffusion. The figure shows a section of approximately 20 μm x 20 μm.
