Celebrating 20 Years of Advanced Engineering Materials

Sandra Kalveram, Jolke Perelaer

Advanced Engineering Materials· Volume 21· Issue 1

Abstract

Sustainable Systems and Global Challenges. "Hard to believe that already 20 years have passed since we saw the inaugural issue of Advanced Engineering Materials. It was a great time and challenge to build the journal just before the turn of the millennium. This would not have been able without the help and enthusiasm of several active scientists, and it is especially rewarding to look back and see that several of them became true friends. Just last month I met with two of them, Helmut Clemens and Dierk Raabe, at the MRS in Boston and we had great discussions not just looking back, but still generating ideas to push the journal further. And I am especially happy that AEM currently is in the hands of my colleague, Sandra Kalveram, who continues to realize her own ideas about the journal's direction and future."
