Microstructural Characteristics by EBSD and ECC in ECAE Processed Pure Cu Samples
Source abstract
Abstract
The preferred sites for nucleation of recrystallization grains on pure copper samples processed by equal‐channel angular extrusion (ECAE) are the intersections of shear bands. This was shown using EBSP and electron‐channeling contrast (ECC) techniques of scanning electron microscopy. The characteristics of the distribution of grain boundaries, GB properties in ultrafine polycrystals, and low melting point of Cu enable the growth of recrystallization nuclei at room temperature (see Figure for an example of orientation formation after two months at RT).
