Enhanced Catalytical and Photothermal Behavior Derived from Self‐Assembly Microsuperlattices of Cu1.8S for Laser Ignition
Source abstract
Abstract
Laser ignition is considered to be a novel ignition technique with high safety and reliability. With the aim of widening the range of industrial and scientific applications for laser ignition, it is extremely desirable to increase the laser sensitivity of energetic materials because most of them are laser insensitivity and unignitable with diode laser. Herein, a facile strategy is presented to prepare ammonium perchlorate (AP) coated with Cu1.8S microsuperlattices via a self‐assembly process. The resulting AP@Cu1.8S microsuperlattices with core–shell structure can be ignited by 1064 nm diode laser at low power density with short delay because the Cu1.8S microsuperlattices coating not only renders enhanced optical absorbance but also superior photothermal conversion efficiency as well as catalytic effect toward thermal decomposition. The superior photothermal conversion efficiency crucial for ignition is attributed to ordered assembly of Cu1.8S due to the plasmonic coupling of building blocks. Besides, the results show that Cu1.8S microsuperlattices coating is versatile and gives rise to combustion with low ignition energy density and high mechanical safety in comparison with previous reports. This work establishes the self‐assembly of Cu1.8S on the surface of energetic materials for laser ignition and paves the way for photothermal materials in practical applications.
