Abstract
Why and how does chemical segregation happen during thixoforming of complex‐shaped parts? The authors identified critical parameters and developed a computer software which simulates the forming process and detects separation phenomena. The Figure shows a simulated step shot process; light and dark areas represent different compositions of the alloy.
