Selection of Powder Coatings for Extreme Erosion Wear Conditions
Source abstract
Abstract
Under extreme conditions of erosion wear (high hardness of abrasives and velocity of abradant particles, impact loading), composite coatings ensure optimal properties of “hardness-toughness”. This article describes tungsten carbide-cobalt systems and self-fluxing alloys, containing tungsten carbide based hardmetal particles deposited by detonation gun, continuous detonation spraying and spray fusion processes. The dependence of the wear resistance of sprayed and fused coatings on their hardness is discussed and hardness criteria for coating selection are proposed.
