Investigating Thermophysical Properties Under Microgravity: A Review

Markus Mohr, Hans-Jörg Fecht

Advanced Engineering Materials· Volume 23· Issue 2

Abstract

The cover page shows micrographs of the titanium Ti64 alloy, solidified in space, in the electromagnetic levitator ISS-EML on board the international space station ISS and solidified on ground. The thermophysical property data measured in the absence of gravity on board the international space station serves as benchmark data for processes simulation models of casting and additive manufacturing. Micrographs are taken after heat-tinting. Courtesy of Prof. David Jarvis, HIPtec AS, Oslo, Norway. For more details, refer to the article, number 2001223, by Markus Mohr and co-worker.
