Transforming Small Localized Loading into Large Rotational Motion in Soft Anisotropically Structured Materials
Source abstract
Abstract
A novel actuation mechanism in soft anisotropic materials: small localized loadings can be transformed into different global movements depending on the material anisotropy direction. The phenomenon is illustrated by experiments on 3D-printed prototypes of soft composite materials with layered microstructures.
