Flux Upcycling of Degraded Layered Cathodes to LiNi x Mn y Co z O 2 (NMCs) with Gradient Transition Metal Distribution (Adv. Energy Mater. 46/2025)
Source abstract
Abstract
NMC Cathodes In article number 2406162, Tao Wang, Sheng Dai, and co-workers develop an ionothermal strategy for flexible upcycling of LiNixMnyCozO2 (NMC) compositions. The upcycled products feature a gradient transition metal distribution, with Mn-enriched surfaces and Co/Ni-enriched cores, which enhances interfacial stability and mitigates degradation, improving the long-term performance and structural integrity of NMC cathodes.
