Reviving Spent NCM Cathodes via Spontaneous Galvanic Corrosion in Ambient Atmospheric Condition (Adv. Energy Mater. 3/2025)
Source abstract
Abstract
Recycling Batteries In article number 2402106, Jiyoung Ma, Jung-Je Woo, and co-workers developed a new approach to revive spent NCM cathode using galvanic corrosion. This process utilizes an aluminum current collector to release electrons, restoring lithium content at room temperature without significant energy input. The restoration method effectively addresses heterogenous lithium loss cathodes, allowing for recycling without the need for lithium quantification.
