Abstract

Corrosion rate data are presented for zinc in (1) a combination of sulfur dioxide, water vapor and air, and (2) aqueous solutions of sulfurous acid in the absence of air, at ordinary temperatures. It is shown that the rate depends to a considerable extent on the form in which the sulfurous acid occurs. Information as to the nature of the corrosion products is presented.
