Electrocatalysis: Reduced Mesoporous Co3O4 Nanowires as Efficient Water Oxidation Electrocatalysts and Supercapacitor Electrodes (Adv. Energy Mater. 16/2014)
Source abstract
Abstract
In article number 1400696, Zhongqin Yang, Gengfeng Zheng, and co-workers report the use of chemically reduced, mesoporous Co3O4 nanowires for enhanced sunlight-driven water splitting and oxygen evolution reaction. Mesoporous Co3O4 nanowires are effectively reduced by NaBH4 and new oxygen vacancies are formed during this process. These oxygen vacancies lead to much higher electrical conductivity and electrocatalytic activity of Co3O4 nanowires.
