Plastic anisotropy of thin molybdenum sheets
Source abstract
Abstract
Abstract In this paper the plastic anisotropy of thin molybdenum sheets is investigated at RT, 50 °C and 100 °C. For this purpose tensile tests were performed in different directions in the sheets plane. Additionally, the crystallographic texture of one sheet was determined by X-ray diffraction. This measured texture was used as input for a calculation of the r -values (Lankford parameter) using the visco-plastic self-consistent model (VPSC-model) by Lebensohn and Tome [Lebensohn RA, Tome CN. A self-consistent anisotropic approach for the simulation of plastic deformation and texture development of polycrystals: application to zirconium alloys. Acta Metal Mater 1993;41:2611–24]. In the examined range the temperature does not significantly influence the r -value while its impact on the elongation to fracture, the yield and tensile strength is remarkable. With the aid of the r -value calculations the plastic anisotropy is explained in terms of crystallographic texture, morphology and dislocation structure.
