Stress Concentration after Transverse Cracking of a GFRP Cross-Ply Laminate and the Secondary Failure
Source abstract
Abstract
In conjunction with the failure mechanism of a glass/epoxy cross-ply lami nate under tension, the tree-shaped secondary failure was detected in our laboratory. Stress concentration which is induced by transverse cracking is the cause of the secondary failure. A theoretical approach to the failure is made in this paper on the basis of stress distributions and energy consideration.
