DISTORTION OF POLY(ETHYLENE TEREPHTHALATE) FILMS INDUCED BY A HIGH TEMPERATURE LAMINATION PROCESS
Source abstract
Abstract
An experimental effort was conducted to determine the influence of processing on the distortion of poly(ethylene terephthalate), (PET), sheets during high temperature lamination. The evaluated sheets were coated and biaxially oriented semicrystalline PET of 0.18 mm thickness. Intrinsic parameters of the laminator were quantified and controlled including pressure, rate and temperature. Viscoelastic reponse was measured by forced dynamic tensile oscillation and constant stress test. Master curves of these data were prepared and used to predict the properties of the PET sheets during lamination. The results are discussed in terms of the characterized molecular structure of the PET.
