Investigation of Cast Film Machine Process Conditions and Physical Properties of Several Homopolymer and Copolymer Polypropylene Film Grades
Source abstract
Abstract
Four polypropylene (PP) film grade resins—homopolymer and copolymer—were used to evaluate the effects of various processing factors on the physical properties of cast film. The results showed that copolymer film (PP with 3% ethylene) has less of an effect on the processing parameters of the phys ical properties than the homopolymer PP film. In most runs, the melt flow rate (MFR) was the dominant factor—followed by melt temperature; chilling roll temperature appeared to have the least effect.
