Abstract

Abstract Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) is a molecularly specific spectroscopic technique that has versatile applications in detection and analysis. To date, several studies have demonstrated the feasibility of SERS in biomedical applications, but these are still a long way from practical applications. Some researchers have been looking for ways to combine traditional biomedical technology with SERS. Such as Western blot combined with SERS, immunohistochemistry combined with SERS, and Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) combined with SERS. The technology transition makes the SERS closer to the practical application. Based on the central dogma of molecular biology, this paper summarized the research progress in the development of transition technology combining nucleic acid and protein detection technology with SERS. The application of various transition technologies in the detection of subcellular structure and biological characteristics was reviewed. Different from the published review, we summarized the development and application of SERS transition technology for the first time, and summarized the problems and challenges of the research in this direction.
