Cover Picture: Amyloid‐Inspired Optical Waveguides from Multicomponent Crystalline Microtubes (ChemNanoMat 8/2016)
Source abstract
Abstract
The Front Cover illustrates a novel amyloid-inspired optical waveguide based on selective interaction of amyloid-specific fluorophores and Fmoc-4-NO2-Phe crystalline microtubes. Confinement of amyloid binding thioflavin-T (ThT) fluorophore to the interior of the Fmoc-4-NO2-Phe microtubes imparts optical waveguide properties, due to light transmission via internal reflectance within the core of the microtube.
