Abstract

A nitrogen-doped mesoporous carbon (NMC) material was powered by a compositing strategy of ferric nitrate and cobalt nitrate with strong oxidizing properties. Using ultrasonic power and ultrasonic time as variables, a soft film plate method was employed to successfully fabricate the NMC/Fe/Co material with an unique structural features. The effects of ultrasonic conditions on the pore structure and chemical properties of the material was investigated, the material showed excellent performance. At an ultrasonic power of 1 KW and an ultrasonic time of 10 min, the specific surface area of the material was 353 m 2.g −1 and the content of nitrogen reached 12.91 at%. Via an electrochemical workstation to evaluate the material, the NMC/Fe/Co material effectively regulated anions and cations distribution on surface of electrode. The redox reaction of NMC with ferric nitrate and cobalt nitrate enhances coulombic forces and hydrogen bonding, as well as a degree of dispersion, which were crucial to increase the specific capacitance. It was found that the NMC/Fe/Co-1–10 material exhibited good electrochemical properties by studying. The specific capacitance reached a maximum of 413 F·g −1 at a current density of 0.5 A·g −1, while the capacitance retention of the material was 87% at a current density of 10 A·g −1 for 5000 cycles. The electrochemical behavior of this novel material effectively improved the electron migration and mesoporous structure of the material surface, resulting in an excellent resistance to energy consumption induced by pseudo-capacitance charging and discharging of supercapacitors. The cycling stability and lifetime of the capacitors were further improved.
