Optical properties of polymer composites of phenothiazine-iodine mixed-valence charge transfer complex
Source abstract
Abstract
Polymer composites of phenothiazine-iodine (2:3 molar ratio) charge transfer complex (CTC) with poly(vinylchloride) have been prepared in different weight ratios. Diffusion of the CTC solution in polymer matrix and mixing of CTC and polymer solutions have been used for fabrication. Optical absorbance of composites reveals both a presence of a broad charge-transfer excitation band and the effects of electron coupling to intramolecular vibrations. This coupling has been analysed in terms of the dimer charge oscillation model and the electron-molecular vibration coupling constants have been determined.
