Abstract

Photo excited para-phenylene molecules produce strong emission from singlet excitons, bleaching of singlet exciton absorption, and induced absorption from triplet excitons and polarons. Using hydrostatic pressure, which decreases the intermolecular separation and changes the molecular geometry, we probe these states to unravel the effects of changing inter-ring and interchain separations.
