Synthesis and crystal structure of CT salt of halogenated 1,6-dithiapyrene

A new charge transfer (CT) salt of 2,7-diiodo-1,6-dithiapyrene (DIDTPY) with pentacyanopropenide (PCA - ) was prepared by th electrooxidation method. In the crystal of (DIDTPY* + )(PCA - )(THF), the dimerized donor molecules formed segregated columns. This dimeric structure of the donor molecules is induced by two I...NC interactions between the donor and acceptor molecules.
