Recent advances in developing the MXene/polymer nanocomposites with multiple properties: A review study
Source abstract
Abstract
Abstract Two-dimensional (2D) nanomaterials such as graphene, MoS2, and WS2 have found great applications in recent years. MXenes are the novel 2D nanomaterials that are synthesized generally by selective etching and exfoliation of the MAX phases. M is an early transition metal, A is an element from the A-group and X is the carbon or nitrogen, in MAX phases. Due to the weaker M-A bonds compared with the M-X bonds in MAX phases, the selective etching of the A elements leads to the formation of the 2D MXene nanomaterials. MXene nanosheets have attracted great applications in many fields. Due to their unique mechanical, tribological, thermal, and electrical properties, MXenes can be introduced as the proper reinforcements for the polymeric composites. However, few researchers have focused on the properties of the MXene/polymer nanocomposites. In this review study, it is tried to collect the performed works on the mechanical, tribological, thermal, corrosion, and electrical performances of the thermosetting and thermoplastic polymeric composites reinforced with MXenes.
