Towards Rapid DNA Sequencing: Detecting Single‐Stranded DNA with a Solid‐State Nanopore
Source abstract
Abstract
Small pores, big future! Methods to characterize and detect various types of DNA and their sequences continue to become more and more refined. Among many such studies, a recent paper has utilized a single nanopore, prepared from Si3N4 by using focused ion-beam milling techniques, located between two electrodes (see schematic). A potential applied across the electrodes causes DNA to pass through the pore, a process which can be regulated by varying conditions such as the pH of the system.
