Artificial Cell Membrane‐Mimicking Nanostructure Facilitates Efficient Gene Delivery through Fusogenic Interaction with the Plasma Membrane of Living Cells
Source abstract
Abstract
A cell-membrane-mimicking nanostructure possesses amphipathic properties due to the presence of hydrophobic alkyl chains and polar phosphorylcholine groups. The distance between nanostructured multilayers resembles that of natural cell membranes. The self-assembled nanostructure has a strong affinity toward the natural cell membrane, and preloaded gene complex is delivered into cells through a fusogenic process.
