Abstract

Abstract The results of experimental and theoretical studies on the influence of the surface density of a thin porous sheet of thermally expanded graphite on the acoustic wave transmission coefficient are presented. The applicability of thin film theory for describing the processes of acoustic wave propagation through porous sheet media in the low-frequency region and for small thicknesses is demonstrated. An assessment of the influence of the operating frequency on the sensitivity of the transmission coefficient to the surface density of the sheet is conducted.
