Abstract

Computer simulations show that an optimal combination of inside and outside diameters of permanent magnets, around which sources of primary field for testing pipes are built, allows one to generate in the material of a tested pipe a magnetic field configuration required for measuring the thicknesses of the base material and coating separately. Parameters of the effect of the source dimensions on the amplitude and distribution of primary magnetic field in the interesting part of the pipe have been calculated.
