Excitation of Lamb Waves in the Interaction between Eddy Currents and a Nonuniform Magnetic Field Generated by a Direct Current Flowing through a Conducting Layer
Source abstract
Abstract
A new method of the electromagnetic-acoustic (EMA) conversion in a system consisting of two plane-parallel layers with identical elastic properties, one of the layers being conducting, is considered. Expressions determining an acoustic field excited by a system of eddy currents in the presence of a spatially nonuniform magnetic field generated by a direct current flowing through the conducting layer is derived. The effectiveness of excitation of the Lamb waves is calculated for various relations between thicknesses of the two layers.
