Optimal Length of the Core of a U-Shaped Applied Electromagnet
Source abstract
Abstract
The optimal length of the core of a U-shaped applied electromagnet (AEM) has been calculated basing on the total energy efficiency of the system incorporating the electromagnet and tested body, which should be equal in measurements of the magnetizing current and the residual magnetization, as well as in measurements of the coercive force of the material. Operational characteristics of AEM have been studied as functions of the ratio between the length of its core and dimension of the tested zone. Experimental data are in good agreement with the calculations.
