Abstract

Thickness gauges are usually calibrated against flat gauges. However, test objects with more complex surfaces are more frequently encountered in practice. In such cases, the appearance of additional systematic error is unavoidable. This error has been estimated using the models of rocket engine parts to demonstrate that it can be almost completely eliminated for developable surfaces and considerably reduced in the processing of results for undevelopable surfaces.
