Abstract

Nondestructive testing ( NDT ) is the only means for assessment of steel wire ropes in terms of local faults ( LF ) and loss in metallic area ( LMA ). Four track ropes (locked coil construction) and two haulage ropes (stranded construction) in a zigback passenger cable car system have been studied for a period of seven years. An attempt has been made in this paper to focus on the main outcome and behavior of in-situ condition of ropes in aerial ropeways.
