Feasibility of Spring Hardness Evaluation Using Barkhausen Noise
Source abstract
Abstract
The paper reports on an experimental investigation of the feasibility of hardness measurements in automobile supporting springs using Barkhausen noise. Examples are given of how these measurements can be performed using the Barkhausen noise in the absence of a carbon-depleted layer in springs. The method can be also used in developing new designs of springs and assessing qualities of quenched materials.
