Abstract

Abstract This study proposed a new prefabricated snow and ice melting cement concrete pavement structure based on carbon fiber cable heating technology. The effects of carbon fiber cable burial spacing, input power, and ambient temperature on heating efficiency were investigated through experiments in a walk-in environmental chamber. Through numerical simulation of road surface heating, parameter analysis was conducted for multiple operating conditions, and a predictive model for snow and ice melting efficiency considering multiple factors was proposed. The effectiveness of the ice melting structure was verified through outdoor experiments. The results showed that the most suitable burial spacing for heating cables was 75 mm. Under the conditions of ambient temperature of −5 °C and input power of 500 W/m 2 , 20 mm snow and 10 mm ice layers can melt within 4 h; Under the conditions of an ambient temperature of −14 °C to −8 °C and an input power of 800 W/m 2 , most of the snow and ice on the road surface can melt within 4 h, meeting the winter transportation needs in cold regions. The construction cost of this pavement structure was 308.98 yuan/m 2 , and the operating cost was 0.57 yuan/(m 2 h), which combined efficiency and economy.
